Sean & Mindy McArdell started Silly Yak Concessions LLC with the idea to provide Gluten Free food to Fair and Festival goers. The Silly Yak Pretzel Shack is a Dedicated 100% Gluten Free Mobile Food Unit. Every item, and ingredient used in the business is certified gluten free. Our menu includes Fresh Baked Gluten Free Pretzels. We also can make your pretzels with cinnamon and sugar!

Sean & Mindy grew up working and playing at the Minnesota State Fair, County Fairs, City Festivals and love the experiences that they have had. The Minnesota State Fair has a special place in their life, and was where they began dating each other over 20 years ago. Over 10 years ago Sean was diagnosed with celiac disease, and that has changed his experience within the concession industry. Fairs, Festivals, and Large gatherings of people center around food. When you have a food allergy it makes going out and enjoying yourself hard. You are not able to eat any of the food available because you will get sick. With Sean’s diagnosis of celiac disease It has been hard to enjoy the fair the same way he did as a child. Many times even if an establishment says they offer a gluten free item that item was prepared in a mixed environment and can be cross contaminated. Sean has been made very ill several times by establishments cross contaminating food.

This has become even more serious for our family since our two daughters have also been diagnosed with celiac disease. We are hoping that We can provide people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance a safe place to eat. 

We hope that we can make fair goers' experiences that much better.
